DHAKA, Dec 21, 2016 (BSS) - The 14th "Council of the College Meeting" of Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was held at the conference room of Dhaka Cantonment in the city today.
Chief of Army Staff also Chairman of the Council of the College General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq chaired the meeting, an ISPR press release said.
The meeting took several decisions on AFMC budget, admission procedure, abolishment of AMC cadet system, Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between AFMC and Kurmitola General Hospital and administrative activities of the college.
Principal Staff Officer of Armed Force Division Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman, DGMS Major General SM Motahar Hossain, Adjutant General of Bangladesh Army Mohammad Matiur Rahman, Commandant of AFMC Major General Md Fashiur Rahman, senior officers of defence, finance, education and health ministries and representative of Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Forces were present at the meeting among others, the release added.
The AFMC started its journey on June 20, 1999 with 56 medical cadets affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had unveiled the plaque of the AFMC permanent building on March 19, 1998.
A total of 693 cadets are now studying under six academic sessions in the college.
AFMC is the only compulsory residential government medical institution in the country. The college has been publishing a half-yearly medical journal entitled "JAFMC" since 2005, the release said.
