More than 6.98 crore people have so far received relief aid across the country as the government continues its humanitarian assistance to ease the sufferings of people amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to local administrations sources of 64 districts, the government allocated 211,017 metric tons of rice and distributed 184,122MT until Wednesday.
Around 69,897,650 individuals of 15,930,767 families have been benefited by the relief assistance during the COVID-19 crisis, said an official release on Thursday.
Tk 123 crore was allocated as cash aid for purchasing relief items including baby foods.
Of the total allocation, Tk 95,83,72,264 in cash has been earmarked for purchasing relief materials where Tk 86,45,00,000 has been distributed among 4,23,79,000 individuals, it said.
The government has distributed baby food worth Tk 24.21 crore among 16.18 lakh people against the total allocation of Tk 27.14 crore, the PID handout added.
