Tributes and condolences continue to pour for noted journalist, columnist, researcher and civil society figure Syed Abul Maksud who passed away at Square Hospital in the city at the age of 74 today.
Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.
Several ministers and state ministers, in separate condolence messages, expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Syed Abul Maksud.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Agriculture Minister Dr M Abdur Razzaque, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, State Minister for Rural Development and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharjee, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak and State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hassan expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Maksud.
Besides, Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Rowshan Ershad expressed deep sorrow and prayed for the eternal peace of the soul.
Jatiya Party (Manju) chairman Anwar Hossain Manju and general secretary and former Education Minister Sheikh Shahidul Islam and vice-chancellor (VC) of National University (NU) Professor Dr Harun-or-Rashid also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Syed Abul Maksud.
