‘Communal harmony in Bangladesh earns global appreciation’

RANGPUR, Bangladesh has earned global appreciation for

its communal harmony since time immemorial and no evil force can destroy the

communal peace prevailing in this land.

“The prevailing communal harmony makes Bangladesh proud in the world arena,”

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa said this while distributing Taka

21.98 lakh as grants among 157 Puja mandap authorities at a function here

today.

Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) organized the function with leaders of

Rangpur city unit and 33 ward level units of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad

(BPUP) and authorities of 157 Puja mandaps marking the upcoming Durga Puja

festivity.

The Mayor distributed cheques of Taka 14,000 as grant among the authorities

of each of the 157 Puja mandaps erected in the city to assist the Sanaton

community in celebrating their greatest religious festival of Durga Puja.

Chief Revenue Officer Joyoshree Rani Roy, Chief Accounts Officer Md. Habibur

Rahman, President of Rangpur city unit of BPUP Haradhan Roy Hara, its General

Secretary Advocate Prashant Kumar Roy, Sanaton community leaders Khokan

Sarker, Pijush Chandra Sarker, Shree Rabi Somani, among others, were present.

City Councilors and Presidents and General Secretaries of 157 Puja mandaps

erected in the city were present.

Addressing the occasion, Mayor Mostafa greeted the Sanaton community on the

occasion of Durga Puja and wished a very happy celebration of the five-day

festivity in the city as elsewhere in the country.

He said Durga Puja festival has strengthened peaceful communal coexistence

alongside strengthening the sense of brotherhood among people of all

religions in Bangladesh.

“People of different religions, castes and tribes living together in peace,

harmony and friendly environment have set a shining example of brotherhood on

the soil of Bangladesh,” he added.
