RAJSHAHI, April 3, 2017 (BSS) - Election Commissioner Rafiqul Islam here today said the recently held Comilla City Corporation (CCC) polls have brought back the people's confidence in the Election Commission (EC).
"None has any complain about the Comilla city polls," he told a view-exchange meeting here.
The election commissioner said the present EC has been working relentlessly for holding all polls in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
"We're prepared to face all sorts of challenges to stage all elections in a transparent and credible manner," he said.
Rafiqul informed that the National Smart Identity Cards distribution among 90 million people across the country will be completed at the end of this year.
Upazila Chairman Ishaque Ali Biswas, District Election Officer Syed Amirul Islam, Upazila Election Officer Moshiur Rahman, Zila Parishad Panel Chairman Rabiul Islam and Upazila Vice-Chairmen Kamruzzaman and Rowshan Ara Begum spoke at the meeting, among others.
Government officials, public representatives and members of civil society were present at the meeting held at Godagari Upazila Parishad auditorium in the district.
