Chess Olympiad: Bangladesh beat stronger Czech Republic in 3rd round

Bangladesh beat 11-seed Czech Republic by 3.5-05 game points in the third round match of the 1st FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities held in Serbia's Belgrade Wednesday night Bangladesh time.

In the third round of matches, Md Khorshed Alam of Bangladesh (rating 2065) beat IM Orsag Milan (rating 2308).

Syed Ejaz Hossain of Bangladesh (rating 1952) defeated IM Babula Milan (rating 2107 while Md Ali Newaz Sarkar of Bangladesh (rating 1809) beat Ryvova Anna (rating 1823).

Bappy Sarkar of Bangladesh (rating 1778) drew with FM Valenta Vit Vaclav (rating 2022) of the Czech Republic.

Bangladesh was due to five-seed Cuba in the fourth round match of the tournament, scheduled to begin at 8pm Bangladesh time Thursday.

FIDE Instructor Masudur Rahman Mallick Dipu is representing Bangladesh in the meet as the non-playing captain and coach.
