Cell for aiding women, children at Ramna Thana

A special cell was set up at Ramna Police Station in the capital city today for helping women and children aimed at making police more people oriented and friendly.

The cell was set up at a room of Ramna Thana which was decorated with festoons, banners and portraits of famous women such as Mother Teresa, Begum Sufia Kamal and Begum Rokeya.

A woman police official will sit here every day to hear problems of women and children to give necessary legal assistance.

Inaugurating the cell around this morning, deputy commissioner (DC) of Ramna zone Md Maruf Hossain Sarder said, "The service will give quicker service in each police station under the jurisdiction of Ramna zone soon in phases."

Appreciating the measure, Principal Sufia Khatun of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College said, "This service will increase confidence and trust of women and children in police."
