Cautionary measures at sea, land ports against Coronavirus

DHAKA Shipping ministry has started taking safety

measures against the spread of coronavirus after its outbreak in China and

quick spread to some other 20 countries.

Authorities of Chattogram, Mongla and Payra seaports and all land ports

including Benapole have started to take cautionary measures against the

spread of coronavirus.

The information came out at a discussion on Annual Development Programme

(ADP) of the ministry at its conference room, said a press release here

today.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury presided over the

programme.

Thermal scanner would be used to screen the virus, Khalid said, adding

that before entering on the outer anchorage, captains of every ship have to

declare that all passengers including staff are free from the virus after

proper diagnosis.

Besides, captains, staff and passengers come from East-Asian country can

only enter into the port after proper scanning by the port health officers.

According to a release, emergency ambulance ship has also prepared to rush

to the hospital with suspected person and medical teams have been also set up

at all land ports to screen everyone entering in the country.

People of the port areas urged to wear mask and follow the other safety

measures, the release added.
