GAZIPUR- The 13th death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter, labour leader and teacher Ahsanullah Master was observed here yesterday with a call for quick execution of his killers.
"Ahsanullah Master was leader of the deprived and exploited people. He was a valiant freedom fighter and a devoted teacher. BNP-Jamaat alliance wanted to make Awami League leaderless by killing freedom fighters. But they could not do it," Agriculture Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury told a memorial meeting near Master's grave at Haidarabad village here as the chief guest.
Chaired by Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, son of Ahsanullah Master, the meeting was attended by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haq, State minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, Awami League Information and Research Affairs Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, Awami League Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman Siraj and Deputy Commissioner S M Alam, among others.
Mozammel Haq said Ahsanullah Master was a leader of the masses and a bold soldier on the street to establish rights of the backward people.
Earlier, leaders of Awami League, different political parties, cultural and social organizations placed wreaths at the grave of Ahsanullah Master.
