Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Tuesday said it is a matter of regret that even after 52 years of independence, anti-liberation forces are still thriving.
Accusing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its leaders for patronizing the anti-liberation forces, the minister said, “The oath of March 7 is to build a united resistance against these anti-liberation evil forces and those who want to take the country backwards being inspired by the Pakistani ideology.”
He said this while talking to reporters after placing a wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi-32 in the capital on Tuesday morning on the occasion of the historic March 7.
Referring to Bangabandhu’s March 7 address to the nation, Hasan said, “Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time, transformed an unarmed nation into an armed one.”
“Bangabandhu’s March 7 speech is one of the best speeches in the history of the world, and the fact that Bangabandhu was indeed a poet of politics has been further reflected through his March 7 speech,” he said, adding, “In fact, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman virtually declared the independence of Bangladesh on March 7.”
“But he declared it in such a way that he did not give any opportunity to the Pakistanis to call him a separatist,” Dr Hasan Mahmud said.
