DHAKA, May 20, 2017 (BSS) - Shipra Mondol, wife of senior journalist of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Ajit Kumar Sarkar, was cremated at Keoratala Crematorium in the Indian city of Kolkata on Friday evening.
Leaders of several political parties and social organizations in Kolkata apart from relatives were present during the cremation.
Trinamool Congress leader Bikash Banarjee and Mahendra Nath Bala, Netaji Subhash Sangha Club founder Apurbo Ghosh, Pijush Kanti Biswas and Pinaki Biswas paid homage by placing wreaths on the coffin before the cremation.
Family sources said Shipra, managing director of Tathyaseba Barta Sangstha (TSB), breathed her last on Thursday afternoon at the age of 55 while undergoing treatment at Rabindranath Tagore Hospital in the capital of Indian state of West Bengal.
She was suffering from kidney related diseases for long.
Shipra was taken to India last month for better treatment. She underwent a surgical operation only four days before her death.
She is survived by her husband and only son.
