DHAKA, April 12, 2017 (BSS)- The newly-constructed 25-storey building of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) named as 'BSC Tower' will be formally inaugurated at Dainik Bangla intersection in the capital on April 15.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the building constructed on a 10-katha land.
The earthquake resistance office-cum-commercial high-rise building, with 1, 29,000 square feet floor space, was constructed at a cost of Taka 63.18 crore.
Public Works Directorate (PWD) and Architecture Directorate implemented the construction work of the tower. The BCS Tower will also accommodate five floors for parking, two car lifts and one separate lift for firemen.
The Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was founded at the initiative of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1972, one year after the country's independence.
In 1973, the then DIT had allocated a plot at Dainik Bangla intersection for constructing its own building. The BSC is a state-owned, autonomous corporation of the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has undertaken a number of steps for overall development of the corporation.
