Brace for wet spell in Bangladesh

The weather department has predicted showers in parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions,” the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) said Tuesday.

A mild heat wave is sweeping through the districts of Rajshahi, Khulna and Jashore, and it may continue, said the Met bulletin.

The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 36.6 degrees in Jashore, while Tetulia clocked to minimum temperature of 22.5 degrees.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country.

The maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am was recorded at 45 mm in Srimangal.

Meanwhile, the trough of low extended from Bihar to North Bay across West Bengal and the southern part of Bangladesh persists.
