BPL Football: Saif SC advance to 3rd slot crushing Uttar Baridhara 7-0

Saif Sporting Club advanced to the 3rd slot in the 12-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football’2022 crushing lowly Uttar Baridhara Club by a massive 7-0 goals in the 21st round match at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Tuesday.

With the day’s massive victory, Saif SC reached the 3rd slot in the league toppling three time champions Sheikh Jamal DC securing 37 points from 21 matches while relegation bound Uttar Baridhara Club remained at 11th slot collecting 14 points from 21 encounters.

 

Local forward Meraz Hossain Opi (45th and 64th minutes) and Uzbek defender Asror Gafurov (68th and 83rd) struck two goals each, Nigerian forward Mfon Udoh (14th), forward Rahim Uddin (71st ) and defender Abid Ahmed (90+2) scored one each for the formidable Saif SC, which dominated the first half by 2-0 goals.   .

 

Uttar Baridhara forward Sujon Biswas got the marching order after receiving a red card in the 52nd minute.

 

 

 

Besides, Saif SC head coach Diego Andres Cruciani, and Baridhara manger Noor Hossain, assistant manager Jahangir Alam also received red cards in the match.

 

 

In the day’s other league match, coming from behind, former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club played 2-2 draw with another relegation bound Swadhinata KS at the Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

 

Iqbal Hossain pur Swadhinata KS ahead in the 26th minute (1-0) while Zillur doubled the lead in the 49th minute (2-0).

 

Uzbek midfielder Otabek Valizhonov reduced the Sheikh Jamal margin in the 70th (2-1) while Nigerian forward Chijioke Alaekwe leveled the margin (2-2) in the stoppage time of the match (90+1 minute)

 

After the day’s debacle, Sheikh Jamal DC went down to the 4th slot in the league table securing 35 points from 21 outings while newcomer Swadhinata KS fell victim of relegation bagging 10 points from 21 matches.

 

Earlier, Bashundhara Kings earned a rare feat of clinching the hattrick title of BPL Football securing 54 points from 21 matches with 17 win, three draw and one defeat against relegation bound and newcomers Swadhinata KS in opener.

 

SIx time champions Dhaka Abahani assured league runners up position, collecting 44 points from 21 encounters with 13 win, five draw and three defeats.

 

The champions Kings will play three times champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on July 31 while runners up Dhaka Abahani will meet lowly Uttar Baridhara Club on the same day (July 31) in their last league matches..
