Dhaka Mohammedan SC beat Muktijoddha SKC by 2-0 goals at their home venue Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla on Tuesday in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football.
With five wins in 11 matches, Mohammedan advanced to the fourth slot toppling Federation Cup runners up Saif SC by goal difference. Both teams have secured 19 points from 11 outings.
Muktijoddha remained at 11th place collecting nine points from 11 matches.
Federation Cup champion Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table securing 34 points while former champions Sheikh Jamal DC and Dhaka Abahani Ltd followed the leader distantly with 23 and 22 points respectively.
In the day’s match, Mali forward Souleymane Diabate scored the first goal in the 35th minute (1-0) while defender Mounzir Coulidiati confirmed Mohammedan’s victory with one more goal in the 61st minute (2-0).
In the day’s other league match, three times BPL champion Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club dropped points with lowly Rahmatganj MFS as their BPL encounter ended in a 1-1 draw at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.
With the day’s 5th draw, Sheikh Jamal DC remained at the 2nd slot in the league table obtaining 23 points from 11 matches. Rahmatganj MFS were at the 9th place with 10 points, also playing 11 matches.
After a barren first half, Uzbek striker Atabek Validjanov put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 49th minute from a corner kick (1-0).
But Rahmatganj’s Ivory Coast forward Christ Remi restored the parity for old Dhaka outfit in the 51st minute (1-1).
Gambian forward of Sheikh Jamal Soulieman Sillah got the marching order just few seconds before the final whistle after receiving second yellow cards.
After a recess on Wednesday, Sheikh Russel KC will play Bangladesh Police FC at 3:45pm while Dhaka Abahani Ltd will encounter Uttar Baridhara Club at 6:15pm, both at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
