Boisabi festival celebrated in city

"Boisabi", the traditional New Year festival of ethnic groups of the hill tract districts, was celebrated today through colorful events in the city.

Marking the festival, the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs today organized different events, including bringing out colorful procession and floating flowers in water.

Secretary of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry Mosammat Hamida Begum inaugurated the procession releasing balloons and pigeons on the premises of Sheikh Hasina Parbatya Chattogram Complex in the city's Baily Road area.

The procession ended at Ramna Park Lake after parading different streets while people from three CHT districts living in the capital took part in the procession.

Later, flowers were floated in the Ramna Park Lake, wishing peace and prosperity for the country.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Hamida Begum said all should remember that Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony.

"It is no matter how different our faiths and castes are...We will continue to work together to build a prosperous Bangladesh with a single target as one nation," she added.

Additional Secretary of the ministry Md Aminul Islam, joint secretary Aleya Akter, Md Jahangir Alam and Prodip Kumar Mahottam, deputy secretaries Sajal Kanti Banik, Abu Rafa Mohammad Arif, Ashish Kumar Shaha, Kazi Mohammad Chahel Tostory and Md Alauddin Chowdhury joined the function, among others.
