BNP wants to ensure victory before polls: Dr Hasan

Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP wanted to ensure their victory before election.

"It cannot be any democratic behavior," he told a discussion organized by Awami Muktijoddha Projonmo League marking the victory at Jatiya Press Club auditorium here.

"When BNP lose any election, it raises different questions to make the polls controversial . . .but If they win, it never say anything," the Awami League (AL) leader said.

Hasan said BNP should change their mindset to give the democracy an institutional shape.

The AL leader also demanded of bringing BNP to justice on charge of killing innocent people by hurling petrol bombs on buses and trucks and damaging public property under an orchestrated plot to oust the elected government and destroy the democracy.

Speaking on the occasion as chief discussant, AL Central Working Committee member and Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said BNP-Jamaat created a division in the nation taking the side of defeated force of Liberation War Pakistan and they (BNP) want to take political advantage by keeping the division continuing.

He said the Awami League led government is pledged bound to complete the ongoing trial of war criminals to remove the division created by BNP-Jamaat.

Awami Muktijoddha Projonmo League president Md Asaduzzaman Durjoy chaired the function while its adviser Syeda Rokeya Begum and Dhaka City South Jubo League former convener Minhaj uddin Mintu spoke on the occasion, among others.
