BNP participates in NCC polls to create controversy: Hanif

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif today said BNP is taking part in the Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls to make it controversial.

"BNP-Jamaat is out to hatch conspiracy centering the NCC polls," he told a memorial meeting on former Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Mohammad Hanif.

Dhaka City South Awami League arranged the meeting and a doa and milad mahphil at a community centre at Azimpur marking his 10th death anniversary.

Urging the party leaders and workers to follow the life and works of Mayor Hanif, Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif said he worked for Awami League in his entire life.

"He (Hanif) never dishonored anyone whether he is his senior or junior," he added.

Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokan and Dhaka City South Awami League General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad addressed the function, among others, with City South Awami League President Abul Hasnat in the chair.

Earlier, social and cultural organizations placed wreaths at the grave of Mayor Hanif at the Azimpur graveyard in the morning.
