Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader today said the BNP has no involvement with the people.
"The BNP is a frustrated and bankrupt party. Their activities are limited to holding indoor press conferences," he said after placing wreaths, along with other newly elected AL central leaders, on the graves of the martyrs of August 15 in 1975, including Fazilatunnesa Mujib, at Banani graveyard in the city.
Responding to BNP's claim that there was no democracy in the AL council and it had no achievement, Obaidul Quader said the BNP should prove first that it believes in democracy.
"They talk of democracy though there is no democracy in their party," he said, adding that the AL is a disciplined and huge political party.
The AL general secretary said their party council have elected leaders fully abiding by democracy.
The AL central leaders showered flower petals on the graves of the martyrs of August 15 and offered fateha there.
AL Presidium Members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Begum Matia Chowdhury, Advocate Sahara Khatun, Col (Retd) Faruque Khan and Dr. Abdur Razzaq, Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanon, Organizing Secretaries Ahmad Hossain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Abu Sayeed AL Mahmud Swapan, AFM Baha Uddin Nasim and Enamul Huq Shamim, Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil, Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Hassan Mahmud and newly elected leaders were present on the occasion.
