Biman cuts down 74 weekly flights on international routes

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken a decision to reduce the number of flights to 10 international destinations due to the growing concern over the outbreak of coronavirus across the world.

Mokabbir Hossain, managing director and chief executive officer of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, said, “Coronavirus has spread in different countries of the world. So we have decided to reduce some flights from some particular routes.”

The international destinations include Kolkata, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Bangkok, Singapore, Jeddah, Doha, Kuwait and Medina.

Biman used to conduct 142 flights per week on the routes, and that will reduce to 68 per week. The decision will remain effective until further directions.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Deputy General Manager (public relations) Tahera Khandakar said flights to Doha have been canceled on Monday as per the direction of Qatar government.

In this circumstance, the passengers who purchased tickets for Qatar will be able to refund or they can wait for the withdrawal of the ban, the official added.
