BGB-MPF border conference begins in city on April 2

DHAKA, April 01, 2017 (BSS) - A six-member delegation of Myanmar Police Force (MPF), consisting with high officials, will arrive in Dhaka morning morning to join a six-day border conference with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The high-level border conference, however, will formally start at 9.30 am on April 2 at the BGB headquarters in the city, said a BGB release here today.

Chief of Police General Staff Brigadier General Myo Swe Win will lead the Myanmar delegation.

On the other hand, a 16-member delegation led by Additional Director General Md Anisur Rahman will represent the BGB in the conference, according to the release.

High officials of Home Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Survey of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Department of Narcotic Control (DNC) will also attend the conference.

The meeting will discuss various issues, including the killing of innocent Bangladeshis along the border and trespassing Bangladesh territory by Myanmar nationals.

The conference would also hold discussions on smuggling of drugs, especially yaba, from Myanmar.
