Battle against remnants of autocracy on: JASOD

Speakers at a meeting on "Dr Milon Day" at the Taher auditorium recalled the valiant sacrifice of Shaheed Dr Shamsul Alam Khan Milon in the fight against autocracy.

Recalling that the battle against the remnants of military autocracy were still on the general secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASOD), Shirin Akhter, MP, said that the cause for which Dr Milon sacrificed his life was still relevant today.

She also presided over the meeting.

Shirin further said that politicians tend to compromise but in societies where professionals also compromised it was difficult to foresee change.

She hoped that professionals -- the colleagues and inheritors --- of Dr Milon's legacy would continue their fight against the remnants of autocracy.

Others, who spoke at the meeting included vice presidents of JASOD, Mir Hossain Akhter, Iqbal Hossain Khan and Habibur Rahman Shawkat.

Former chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) and chairman of JASOD's advisory wing, Dr M A Karim also spoke at the meeting.
