RAJSHAHI, Jan 29, 2017 (BSS)- Foreign policy of Bangladesh is balanced and its main goal is to protect and maintain relation with other countries only after ensuring own policy and position, said Mijarul Quayes, Bangladesh's Ambassador to Brazil.
He was addressing a special lecture titled "Bangladesh Foreign Policy: Current Challenges- A Practitioner's Perspective" in Dean's Complex conference hall of Rajshahi University (RU) as chief guest.
Department of International Relations of RU hosted the lecture session today. With department chairman Prof Abul Kashem in the chair famous writer Prof Hassan Azizul Haque and Assistant Professor of the department Shariful Islam also spoke.
Mijarul Quayes says Bangladesh's foreign policy strives for the renunciation of the use of force in international relations and for general and complete disarmament and this is our constitutional obligation.
Another objective of the policy is to uphold the right of every people freely to determine and build up its own social, economic and political system by ways and means of its own free choice.
"We support oppressed peoples throughout the world waging a just struggle against imperialism, colonialism or racialism," he added.
Large number of teachers, researchers and students joined the programme.
