Bangladesh will be an export oriented country: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Bangladesh will turn into a science and technology based export oriented country soon and the government is dedicated to ensure science, knowledge and technology based quality education.

He hoped that universities would be the fields of exercise of knowledge, research, modern technology and IT based innovation center.

The education minister was addressing the 26th Khulna University (KU) Day and Education Fair-2016 held at the KU campus today with vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Dr. Md. Fayequzzaman was in the chair.

Treasurer of KU Khan Atiar Rahman addressed as special guest while convener of KU Day-2016 celebration committee and Dean of Live Science School Prof Dr. Md. Nazmul Ahsan, member secretary of the committee and students affair director Prof Dr. Anirvan Mostofa, spoke.

The Education Minister highlighted the development of Bangladesh and achievement of the government in the area of science, technology and innovation. He urged the students to be more serious and active to acquire knowledge to make themselves as worthy citizens to face the global challenges of 21st century.

He said "The brilliant and meritorious students are the assets of the country and they will lead the nation towards development in future by making the best use of their merit and talents."

The present government has given Tk 1.62 crore as stipend among the students; he said adding that multifaceted programmes including free distribution of textbooks has been taken to ensure quality education, he said.

He urged all the members of his ministry as well as teachers and students to devote themselves in building a hunger free and a happy, prosperous and develop digital Bangladesh by 2021.

Earlier, the minister joined a colourful procession in the campus and unveiled the inauguration stone of the Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib women dormitory.
