Bangladesh, Saudi FMs likely to talk over phone Sunday

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud are likely to have a telephone conversation on Sunday.

Bilateral and current issues will be discussed during the talks, said a diplomatic source.

The Saudi government on Wednesday positively responded to workers issues, including complexities over flight operation, removing barriers to their return to workplaces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

Saudi Arabia recently raised the issue of 54,000 Rohingyas but it could not be confirmed whether the foreign ministers will discuss it or not.

Bangladesh’s position is to scrutinise their identity first as it does not want to take additional burden since the country is already hosting more than 1.1 million Rohingyas.

Saudi Arabia took Rohingyas in 1980 and 1990 seeing their sufferings.
