Bangladesh marches on the highway of development: Hanif

KHULNA, Jan 19, 2017(BSS) - Awami league (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said Bangladesh marches on the highway of development and general people will support the development trend in next general election.

"BNP-Jamaat alliance government looted people's wealth through making 'Howabhaban'. They have created at least 129 militant organizations and made the country five times champion in corruption across the world," he said slamming BNP leader Fakrul Islam in his recent remark that country now in the way of destroying.

He was addressing at the special delegates meeting of Khulna division AL held at United Club premises in the city. Chaired by AL joint general secretary Md. Abdur Rahman, MP, the meeting was addressed, among others, by presidium member Pijush Kanti Bhattacharya organizing secretary Abu-Sayeed-Al-Mahmud, MP, member of central working committee Begum Monnuzan Sufian,MP, S M Kamal Hossain, advocate Md. Amerul Islam Milon and Parveen Zaman Kalpona, State Minister for youth and Sports Biren Shikder, ex-Health Minister AFM Ruhul Haque, Talukder Abdul Khaleque, MP, Mostofa Rashidi Suja,MP, and Khulna zila parishad chairman Sheikh-Harun-ur-Rashid. General Secretary of Khulna City AL Mizanur Rahman Mizan,MP, delivered the wel come speech.

At least 2,000 delegates comprised with parliament members, zila parisad chairmen, pourasava mayors, upazila chairmen and president and general secretary of upazilas, pourasavas, districts and city units AL of Khulna division attended the meeting.

Hanif said dialogue could never be held with the patrons of the killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as the Liberation War criminals.He added "Founder of BNP Ziaur Rahman had rewarded Bangabandhu killers while his wife Begum Khaleda Zia patronised them."

The AL leaders said that AL has been able to fulfill most of the promises in the industrial, energy, agriculture, ITC, education and human resources, health and communication sectors and also in terms of eradicating poverty and women empowerment.

In the index of economic progress, Bangladesh is one of the top five countries of the world. In terms of the GDP, the country is placed in the 44th position. It holds the 32nd position globally in terms of purchasing capacity, they added while describing government success and development during the last eight years.
