DHAKA, Jan 30, 2017 (BSS)- A contract has been signed between CSC-Bangladesh Army and non-government organization (NGO), Development Organisation of the Rural Poor (DORP) for Implementation of Resettlement Plan for the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project (PBRLP) from Dhaka to Jessore via Bhanga in the first phase.
The contract was signed between Bangladesh Army and DORP at Dhaka Cantonment this morning.
On behalf of Bangladesh Army, CSC in-charge of land acquisition Colonel Noor e Alom Md. Jobayer Sarwar and CEO of DORP AHM Nouman signed the contract, an official release of DORP said.
The project included land acquisition and supporting affected people to restore their housing, Resettlement and Income Livelihood Restoration Program activities.
The socioeconomic condition of the Southern people of Bangladesh will be much better upon completion of the project.
On phase-1 (Dhaka to Bhanga) there are 3,548 entitled households affected by the adverse impact of the project. Total length of the strip is 82.35km where total 358.41 hectare land will come under acquisition.
Major General Abu Sayed Md. Masud, Brigadier General Md. Abdul Mukim Sarker, Brigadier General Abul Kasem Md. Fozlul Kader, Brigadier General Abul Kalam Azad and other high level Army officers were present on the occasion.
Azher Ali Talukder, Chairman- DORP, and Additional Secretary (Rtd.), Sultan Mahmud, Director of DORP, Md. Hayder Ali Khan, Director Finance and Administration, Md. Jobayer Hassan, Director Research and Evaluation, and Aftabul Alam, the Team Leader of the project attended the function.
