Bangla Tribune journalist Omar Farruque passes away

DHAKA- Special correspondent of online news portal Bangla Tribune Omar Farruque passed away at Square Hospital in the city early today.

He was 51.

Also a permanent member of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Omar Farruque was hospitalized Saturday noon as he felt chest pain while entering his office. He breathed his last around 3.30 am today, family sources said.

He left behind wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

Farruque was the youngest among five brothers and four sisters. His spouse is Sanjida Omar. Farruque's elder daughter Fariha Omar is a student of class ten and younger daughter Dipika Omar Diya is reading in class six.

Farruque's first namaj-e-janza was held at DRU around 1 pm, second at his workplace Bangla Tribune at 2 pm and third one at Mir Hazirbagh Khalpar Jame Masjid after Asr prayers.

He will be buried at the Jurain graveyard.

Earlier, Omar Farruque worked for Dainik Samachar, Dainik Ajker Kagaz, Dainik Jugantor as a renowned journalist.

DRU President Shakhawat Hossain Badsha and General Secretary Mursalin Nomani expressed profound shock at the death of Omar Farruque and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
