Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said, Bangabandhu, the great democratic leader dreamt of independence and set a milestone of achieving independence by inspiring a whole nation.
“Bangabandhu’s historic speech on March 7 has already received international recognition for all freedom-loving people of the world…His leadership has crossed the boundary of the nation and he is a world leader now,” he told a discussion organized at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in the city today, said a press release.
The discussion was organized on the occasion of the 2nd founding anniversary of the daily Jago Janata.
Mozammel said that the next generation needs to know more about the great leader and the Bangabandhu’s ideology and the great liberation war.
“For a long time after 1975, the anti-liberation forces tried to distort the history of liberation war. An attempt has been made to make a villain the hero of the great liberation war,” the minister said.
He said that the media had a positive and strong role in the great liberation war and called upon the media to spread more objective, positive and development news.
The minister said that the present government is media friendly one. The government has taken many steps for freedom of press and the welfare of journalists.
Former Railway Minister Mujibul Haque, Bangladesh Gana Azadi League President ADSK Sikder, Bangabandhu Research Council President Lion Mohammad Gani Mia Babul, BNA Secretary General Major (Retd) Dr Sheikh Habibur Rahman spoke as special guests at the function presided over by Daily Jago Janata Editor Mohammad Sarwar Hossain.
