Bangabandhu Corner to be set up at 1000 libraries: Khalid

DHAKA Bangabandhu and Liberation War Corner will be set up at 1000 public and private libraries across the country marking the Mujib Borsho, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

State Minister for Culture Affairs KM Khalid disclosed the information at a press conference at the auditorium of Department Of Public Libraries in city's Shahbag area.

The press conference was organized on the occasion of the National Library Day scheduled to be observed on February 5.

In his address, Khalid said the government has taken a number of initiatives to develop the country's libraries to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu's 'Sonar Bangla'.

As per of the initiatives, the government is implementing a development project in the public libraries, he added.

He said the slogan of this year's National Library Day is 'Porbo Boi, Gorbo Desh- Bangabandhur Bangladesh'.

The day will start with a procession which will begin from the department at 8am on Wednesday. KM Khalid will inaugurate the procession.

Later, a discussion and a cultural function will be held at Showkat Osman auditorium.

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque will address the discussion as chief guest while eminent writer Muhammed Zafar Iqbal will be present as key discussant.

Besides, the day will be observed at all public libraries at district and divisional levels.
