A Bagerhat Court on Wednesday sent a lawyer in a case filed under the Digital Security Act for allegedly posting a defamatory status on Facebook about a college principal in Morelganj of Bagerhat.
The accused Golam Kibria Tariq, 45, was presented before the Bagerhat Judicial Magistrate’s Court’s Judge Asadul Islam in the afternoon after primary interrogation.
Nitish Biswas, principal of Morelganj Government Siraj Uddin Memorial College, alleged Tariq continuously posted defamatory status on Facebook about him, his family, college teachers and staff. He later filed a case at Morelganj Police Station.
Police arrested Tariq on Tuesday night, said Inspector SM Ashraful Alam, in-charge of Cyber Crime Investigation Cell in Bagerhat.
Tariq was a former member of the management committee of the college. And his father is the founder of that college.
