Badrul indicted in Khadiza attack case, trial begins Dec 5

A court here today indicted Badrul Alam, the lone accused in the case filed for attacking college student Khadiza Begum Nargis in early October.

Judge Saifuzzaman Hiru of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court fixed December 5 for starting the trial of the case with deposition, after framing charges, said Mahafujur Rahman, Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) of Sylhet Judge's Court.

On November 8, Sub-Inspector (SI) Harunur Rashid of Shah Poran Police Station of the city, also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, pressed charges against Badrul.

The court took cognisance of the charges on November 15.

Khadiza, a second year degree (pass course) student of Sylhet Government Women's College, was hacked by suspended BCL leader Badrul of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) on November 3. She came under attack while returning after appearing in an examination at Sylhet MC College.

Locals nabbed Badrul and handed him over to police.
