Veteran S.R. Attygalle yesterday stepped down as Secretary to the Finance Ministry and Treasury. Speculation was rife that Central Bank Deputy Governor Mahinda Siriwardana will replace him. Attygalle’s move follows the resignation by the entire Cabinet including Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa on Sunday. Siriwardana has more than 30 years of service in the CBSL. He has held the key positions of Assistant Governor and Director of Economic Research Department of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
