Asia Cup Archery: Bangladesh earn one silver, three bronze medals in Compound Division

Bangladesh earned one silver and three bronze medals in the compound division of the Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Tournament, Stage-2 on the 4th day of the meet held in Sulaymaniyah of Iraq on Tuesday.

Bangladesh Men’s team comprises Mohammad Ashiquzzaman, Newaz Ahmed Rakib and Mithu Rahman clinched the silver medal of the compound men’s team event losing to India by 218-224 score in the final.

In the compound women’s singles, Shymoly Roy of Bangladesh clinched the bronze medal beating her compatriot Suma Biswas of Bangladesh by 140 -134 score in the 3rd place deciding match on Tuesday.

In the compound women’s team event, Shymoly Roy, Bonnya Akter and Suma Biswas of Bangladesh took the bronze medal beating Iraq by 190-177 score.

In the compound mixed team event, Bangladesh pair Mohammad Ashiquzzaman and Shymoly Roy clinched the bronze medal defeating their Iraqi rivals by 152-141 score.

Bangladesh will compete in three gold medal deciding matches—recurve men’s team, recurve women’s team, recurve men’s singles–all against India, on Wednesday, the last day of the meet.

Country’s celebrated archer Mohammad Ruman Shana will face Chauhan Mrinal of India in the recurve men’s singles gold medal deciding match.
