The death toll in the gas lighter factory fire at Ashulia rose to four as another critically injured female worker died early today.
Sakhina Akter, 20, succumbed to her burn injuries around 5am at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), hospital and police sources said.
With Sakhina four female workers out of 21 admitted to the DMCH died till today. The condition of three others is stated to be critical.
Earlier on November 22, at least 31 workers were injured in the devastating fire that broke out at Colour Match BD Ltd adjacent to Jirabo Bus Stand under Ashulia Police Station.
A case was filed against the owner - factory Chairman Mahmud Alam; Vice Chairman Mahmud Kawsar and Managing Director Shamim Alahi- to this end.
