DHAKA, Jan 26, 2017 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today issued warrant to arrest BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
"Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Special Judge Court-3 issued the warrant as the accused failed to turn up before the court for placing statement in his defence," a court official said.
Meanwhile, advocate Sanaullah Miah, counsel for prime accused in the case BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, filed a time plea as his client too refrained from appearing before the court today.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case against six, including Khaleda Zia and her eldest son, Tarique Rahman, on July 3, 2008, for embezzling Taka 2.10 crore from Zia Orphanage Trust.
