Amu for politically resisting distortion of history of independence

Hossain Amu today called for politically resisting those who distort the

history of the country's independence.

The celebration of Bangabandhu's birth centenary will create a wave which

will one day wash away all evil forces like BNP-Jamaat he told a view-

exchange of the 14-party alliance at AL's Bangabandhu Avenue central office

here.

Marking the celebration of 'Mujib Year', the 14-party leaders exchanged

views with leaders of different professional bodies.

Chaired by 14-party spokesperson and AL Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim,

the function was attended by AL Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr

Abdur Razzaque, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Jatiya

Samajtantrik Dal President Hasanul Haq Inu, Samyabadi Dal General Secretary

Dilip Barua, AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing

Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, Women

Affairs Secretary Meher Afroz Chumki, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA)

President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, journalist leader Manjurul Ahsan

Bulbul, Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad(SWACHIP) President Prof Dr M Iqbal

Arslan and its Secretary General Dr MA Aziz, Gono Azadi League President SK

Shikder and Gonotantri Party General Secretary Dr Shahadat Hossain, among

others.

Amu said those who do not observe the birth centenary of Father of the

Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, are the anti-liberation force.

The AL veteran leader said BJP took elaborate programme marking the birth

centenary of Mahatma Gandhi in India and there was no confusion and

disagreement in observing the programmes for father of the nation of the

country.

But in our country, BNP-Jamaat did not take any programme to observe the

birth centenary of Father of the Nation he said.

Mentioning Bangabandhu as an able statesman, Amu said: We all discuss

about Bangabandhu's pre-independence political activities. But we do not

discuss how Bangabandhu was as a statesman.

Amu said Bangabandhu long ago thought about resolving of maritime dispute

and he took strong steps like land reforms and introducing cooperatives for

the farmers.

The AL leader said the architect of independent Bangladesh had given

different directives for running the state and for the people of different

professions.

If we can portray the directives from our respective positions, the new

generation can know how Bangabandhu was as a statesman he said.

Mohammed Nasim announced the 14-party's programmes marking the birth

centenary of Bangabandhu.

On March 17, the birthday of Bangabandhu, candle-light vigil will be

arranged in the evening simultaneously across the country.

As part of the central programme, a candle-light procession will be

brought out from the city's Manik Miah Avenue and it will end at Bangabandhu

Bhaban at Dhanmondi 32 to pay homage to Bangabandhu on that day.
