DHAKA, Dec 16, 2016 (BSS)-Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the AL is committed to establishing a non-communal Bangladesh.
Awami League is working to resist communal forces to build a prosperous Bangladesh, he told a brief rally prior to bringing out a huge victory procession from in front of the Institution of Engineers' Bangladesh (IEB) in the city.
The south and north Dhaka City units of Awami League brought out the procession on the occasion of the 46th Victory Day.
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury, AL Presidium Member Dr Abdur Razzak and senior leaders of the party, among others, addressed the rally with Shahe Alam Murad, general secretary of Dhaka North City AL, in the chair.
Thousands of people from all strata today took part in the colourful Victory Day march.
Begum Matia Chowdhury called upon the people to remain united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for strengthening her hands and the ruling Awami League.
"The country has been marching ahead under the leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina defying all barriers and impediments," she added.
Carrying banners, festoons, huge national and party flags, big portraits of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina and multicoloured balloons, the marchers on board decorated trucks and on feet participated in the Victory March.
