DHAKA, May 26, 2017 (BSS)-Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said final scrutiny would be conducted before giving new membership to anyone in the party.
"We would have to keep a sharp eye on giving new membership and renewal of existing party members to resist outsiders," he said while distributing forms for new members among the district level leaders at AL President's office at Dhanmondi here.
AL Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and central committee member SM Kamal, among others, were present.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said "We would have to remain vigilant so that the drive for collecting new members was not plagued by controversies."
To a quarry of the newsmen, Quader said, "The EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) system is a logical demand as the preset era is a digital one, not analog."
"We will strongly demand it to the Election Commission," the AL general secretary said.
