A case has been filed against two named and 10-12 anonymous people for assaulting a school headmaster in Kurigram's Rowmari over recruitment of teachers.

The accused are Rokonuzzaman Rokon, relief and social welfare secretary of Rowmari upazila unit of Awami League and his aide Asadul Islam, said Rup Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rowmari Police Station on Saturday evening.

Earlier on Thursday night, the victim, Nurunnabi Haque, headmaster of Phulkarchar Junior Secondary School, lodged a written complaint against them at Rowmari Police station.

"We have started an investigation into the allegation and are trying to arrest the accused," the OC added.

Nurunnabi alleged that he had a dispute with AL leader Roknuzzaman and Asadul over the recruitment of school teachers.

On Thursday afternoon, Roknuzzaman and his men picked him up from Rowmari Upazila Parishad premises and took him to the Poli bus counter where he was given death threats.

Later, the headmaster was taken to the office room of Abu Huraira, general secretary of Upazila Awami League and headmaster of Rowmari CG Zaman High School on a motorcycle, where he was beaten.

He was admitted to the Rowmari Upazila Health Complex.

In this regard, Abu Huraira said Rokonuzzaman committed a punishable offence.
