DHAKA Awami League (AL) Forests and Environment Affairs Sub-committee got World Environment Day Hero recognition this year for its outstanding performance in creating mass awareness to protect environment.
Ruling AL Forests and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain told this at a meeting of the AL's Forests and Environment Affairs Subcommittee at AL President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office today.
He said under the directives of Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina, the subcommittee took different programmes marking the World Environment Day -2019.
This is the first time the United Nation Organization (UNO) sent a thanks-letter to a sub-committee (forests and environment) of a political party in Bangladesh for its movement to protect the environment, he mentioned.
He added: It's indeed a big achievement for us.
Sub-committee Chairman Fazlul Haque Khandaker, committee members Mihir Kanti Goshal, Syed Sukkur Ali Shuvo, Hemayet Hossain, Maksudul Alam, Mahfuzur Rahman, Faisal Ahmed, Rashedul Bashar Dollar and Sujadur Rahman, among others, were present there.
