DHAKAThe authority of Dhaka WASA is going to sign an agreement with a Korean consultancy firm to supervise the Dasherkandhi Sewerage Treatment Plant Project which is being implemented for protecting the Dhaka city from water and environmental pollution.
The agreement will be held between the Dhaka WASA and Hancock Engineering Consultant of Korea on Monday.
WASA sources said the project is being implemented in Dasherkandhi area under Khilgaon area with an estimated cost of Taka 3,317.77 crore and it will be completed in 2019.
A total of 60 acres of land have already been acquired for the project. Around 50 lakh city dwellers of Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Baridhara DOHS, Bashundhara, Badda, Bhatara, Banosree, Kuril, Sangsad Bhaban area, Shukhrabad, Firmgate, Tejgaon, Aftab Nagar, Niketan, Satarkul, Hatirjheel and others areas will be benefited from the project.
Hydro China Corporation, an organization of China, is implementing the project while 280 million US dollar would come as assistance from China Export Bank for it.
The Dhaka WASA is also implementing more 10 special projects in the city for development of water and sewerage treatment plants.
