Actress and director Meher Afroz Shaon has gone to self-isolation as she returned home from the USA which is struggling to check the coronavirus spread.
Through a status on her verified Facebook page, the actress said she has been on 14-day quarantine in her Dhanmondi house since Monday.
Shaon, however, said she has no coronavirus symptoms like fever, cough and body ache.
She said she had been to the USA to participate in a book fair as per the commitment she made many days ago. “Though there was an outbreak of coronavirus in Washington, it has not spread to New York yet. Soon after the outbreak of the virus, warning messages were issued in many US states. So, I didn't get out of the house at all.”
“I returned to the country yesterday (Monday) with the grace of the Almighty. I’ve been separately staying in my Dhanmondi house since yesterday. (I'm afraid of using the word home-quarantine). I’m talking to my sons, who are staying in my mother’s house, through video calls for hours.
Coronavirus cases across the US reached over 4,490 -- a jump of more than 1,000 from Sunday -- with 87 deaths.
On Monday, the government decided that all those arriving here from abroad must stay in 14-day quarantine.
Bangladesh has so far reported 10 coronavirus cases while many people returned from abroad have been quarantined.
