MANIKGANJ, Jan.21, 2017 (BSS) - The Executive Committee Members of African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) visited one of the Gram Unnayon Samity at Pajonkhara village under Garpara Union in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The Samity was formed under "Ektee Bari Ektee Khamar Project", a special Initiative of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a view to paradigm shift from micro credit to micro savings and e-financial inclusion, family farming leading to poverty alleviation under the Rural Development and Co-operatives Division, Ministry of LGRD and Co-operatives.
Dr. Proshanto Kumar Roy, secretary of Rural Development and Co-operatives, Ministry of LGRD and Co-operatives gave a short description of the aims and objectives of the Samity.
Oomaduth Jadoo, President of the Executive Committee of African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO), Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahadat Khodakar and Garpara Union Parishad Chairman Hasan Ali Sarker , were present, among others.
President Oomaduth Jadoo expressed his great satisfaction to observe the deposit and withdrawal system of money by the members of the society in their presence.
Some of the members of Panjonkhara Gram Unnayon Samity deposited money in their accounts and one of them drew loan from the society.
The members of the committee also visited a biogas plant at Pajonkhara.
A total of 13 members of executive committee of the AARDO, an organization of 31 countries of Africa and Asia, attended the programmes including its president Oomaduth Jadoo and Secretary General Wassfi Hassan El Sreihin.
