Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has announced that his interim government is actively providing extensive training programs, including those focused on information and communication technology, to transform job-seeking youth into a skilled workforce. This statement was made in a message issued on the eve of National Youth Day 2025.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prof Yunus emphasized that National Youth Day coincides with International Youth Day on August 12. He extended his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to the youth of Bangladesh and globally. The theme for ‘National and International Youth Day 2025’ is ‘Technology-based Youth Force, Progress in Multilateral Partnership’, which he described as very timely. This theme underscores the crucial role of youth in fostering a more sustainable, equitable, and innovative world through multilateral diplomacy.

Highlighting the importance of youth, the chief adviser noted that one-third of Bangladesh’s population consists of young individuals, who have consistently played a bold and pioneering role during national crises. He pointed out that the activities at the National Institute of Youth Development in Savar have been intensified to foster leadership, enhance social status, nurture creative talent, empower youth, and expedite employment opportunities.

Prof Yunus mentioned that self-employment avenues are being opened by offering small loans to trained youth without requiring collateral. Additionally, the ceiling for youth loans has been increased across all levels. Besides offering job-oriented and contemporary training, the government is also committed to expanding employment opportunities abroad for the youth.

The chief adviser expressed his hope that everyone will become more proactive in empowering the youth and fulfilling their aspirations as part of building a new Bangladesh. He also wished success for all programs organized in celebration of National and International Youth Day.
