DHAKA, A total of 208 flights carrying 75,590 hajj pilgrims reached Saudi Arabia till today to perform the holy Hajj this year, said an official Hajj office bulletin.
The bulletin also said that a total number of 4,604 pilgrims were carried by 108 Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights under the government management.
The other 70,986 pilgrims were flown to the destination by 100 Saudi Airlines flights under private management.
According to Hajj Camp and Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources, this year a total of 126,923 pilgrims will perform Hajj both under the government and private management.
This year, for the first time, immigration formalities of Bangladeshi pilgrims are scheduled to be completed in Dhaka as 'pre arrival immigration' of Saudi Arabia.
An order has been issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs saying that every Hajj Agency must prepare the Visa and Tickets of the pilgrims within July 29.
Subject to the sighting of moon, the holy Hajj will be held on August 10 next, according to the Religious Affairs Ministry.
The last Hajj flight will fly for Saudi Arabia on August 5 from Bangladesh while the return flights will start on August 17, 2019.
The bulletin also stated that so far, 13 pilgrims including two women have died in Makkah, Medina and Jeddah.
