600 FFs given reception in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, More than 600 freedom fighters and family members of martyred freedom fighters of Rajshahi city were honoured through a reception yesterday.

Of them, Advocate Abdul Hadi, Dr Imdadul Haque, Abdul Khaleque, Dr Abdul

Mannan, Nazrul Islam Khoka and Rafikoddowla Khan were significant.

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) organised the reception ceremony at

RCC's Green Plaza. RCC Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, distributed crests and

gifts among the freedom fighters as chief guest.

Liton said that the city corporation will build housing project for the

Freedom Fighters in the city. He also declared that the existing problems

relating to their holding taxes and water bills would be solved as early as

possible.

Liton mentioned that the city corporation is very much positive towards

the best sons of the soil alongside improving their living and livelihood

condition. RCC is implementing a project of naming several streets in the

city after the names of valiant freedom fighters, he added.

He said all of us should have to take the responsibility of protecting

the great sons of the soil freedom fighters. All of us should stand beside

them. The significance and spirit of the war of liberation should be

highlighted before the new generation.

Chaired by RCC Chief Executive Officer Shah Momin, the meeting was

addressed, among others, by Panel Mayor Shariful Islam Babu, Chief Engineer

Ashraful Haque, Secretary Rejaul Karim and Chief Conservancy Officer Sheik

Mamun.
