Four students were injured as an abandoned school building collapsed in Brahmanbaria’s West Paikpara.

The incident occurred at Shishu Kalyan Primary School in the area on Tuesday afternoon.

The injured students are Samia, 7, Habiba, 7, Maria, 8, and Nazmul, 12.

They were rescued and taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, fire service sources said.

According to locals, the abandoned tin-shed building of this government-ran primary school collapsed upon the students as they were passing by it.

Md. Abdus Samad, senior station officer of Brahmanbaria Fire Service, said upon information, two units of Fire Service reached the spot. They rescued the injured students and sent them to hospital.

Meanwhile, relatives of the injured complained that although the school authorities were repeatedly informed that keeping the abandoned tin-shed building still standing was a risk, no measures were taken. Their negligence is to blame for this accident, they said.
