4 national leaders killed to eliminate pro-liberation forces: Nasim

RAJSHAHI Awami League Presidium Member Md Nasim, MP, said today saboteurs killed four national leaders to eliminate pro-liberation forces terming the jail killing as one of the shameful chapters in the nation's history.

Conspirators wanted to stamp out the pro-liberation forces by brutally killing our four national leaders inside the jail, he added.

He was addressing a discussion organised by a progressive teachers alliance at Rajshahi University (RU) on jail killing day.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan and Pro-vice-chancellors Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha and Chowdhury Jakaria spoke with convenor of the alliance Prof Mujibur Rahman in the chair.

Md Nasim said the four national leaders were brutally killed inside the Dhaka central Jail after assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to eliminate the spirit of liberation war.

This bloodshed created anarchy, destabilized politics and impeded economic progress of the country, he said.

He said that the names of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four national leaders could never be wiped out as those names will remain alive in people's mind as long as Bangladesh will exist.

Mayor Liton said killing of four national leaders at Dhaka Central Jail on November 3 in 1975 after assassination of Bangabandhu aimed at eliminating Bangladesh.

Paying due homage and respect to the four heroic national leaders he added that the nation and its independence would not be safe without ensuring exemplary punishments to absconding killers of Bangabandhu and four national leaders, war criminals, bomb attackers and conspirators.

He said the killers wanted to reverse the history of the nation by destroying AL through killing of the four national leaders after assassinations of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members.
