A 34-year-old woman has reportedly been raped by more than five people in Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram district.
Police arrested three people from Boilchhari in the upazila on Monday night after getting a written complaint from the woman, said Kamal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station.
The arrestees were identified as Moktar, 40, son of Shafique Ahmed, Sarwar, 35, son of Abdul Kuddus Fakir and Nurul Alam, 35, son of Farid Ahmed of the upazila.
According to the complaint, the woman, mother of two children, went to a local madrasha on Friday. After visiting the madrasha she hired an auto-rickshaw of Shahidul to go to her house.
At one stage, Shahidul took the auto-rickshaw to a deep forest saying it was a short cut road.
Later, five to seven people including Shahidul, violated the woman in turns through torture, leaving her senseless.
She was taken to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex on Saturday from where she was taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hosptial.
Police also registered a rape case on Tuesday.
